Thank you to everyone that came out to this limited event, or signed up! We hope that more member slots are available for the future due to the demand.
For our general meeting this week we had Dr. Isaiah Cochran, the national president of AMSA, discussing the importance of healthcare advocacy and AMSA's history with the intersection between medicine and science. Dr. Cochran also presented opportunities for conferences we can attend as pre-health students which would enhance our knowledge not only in the medical field but also the healthcare aspect of medicine.
Today AMSA teamed up with Biomedical Engineering Society at UCR (BMES) for its first ever Future of Medicine Event. At the end of the meeting members were able to ask the panel any other questions they had pertaining to the MCAT.

This past Sunday, UCR AMSA volunteered at the Helping Hands Pantry in San Bernardino. Students helped pack boxes with food for the underserved and impoverished to help them out with food insecurities during the Holiday season. Boxes were filled with soup, root vegetables, dry foods, and other canned goods traditionally eaten during the holiday season.
AMSA's third general meeting happened on November 6th and we had a Club Expo that introduced several smaller pre-health organizations on campus to AMSA members. The goal was to promote these other organizations and give AMSA members the opportunity to explore clubs that are more specialized than our own. The meeting was incredibly successful and 8 pre-health organizations were in attendance to foster the pre-health undergraduate community at UCR!
UCR AMSA went to San Clemente State beach to assist Orange County Coast-keepers in cleaning up the beach. We had a great time helping out the community while enjoying the beautiful weather and ocean breeze. Hopefully we left the beach a little cleaner than when we found it :)
UCR went to Loma Linda University for this year’s Family Health Fair & FREE 5K at Loma Linda University Health’s Drayson Center. Volunteers helped run the event and assisted the vendors that attended. AMSA was proud to be in attendance and help raise awareness for the importance of healthcare.
