Our first general meeting of the Fall Quarter was packed with new faces and a wealth of information on AMSA's goals and the exciting, inspiring opportunities we have planned for this quarter! We were truly overwhelmed with the turnout out but we're so glad to welcome all old and new members to the AMSA family.
We began the meeting by providing a brief overview of what AMSA is and how we aim to create a space for community, growth, and success for students interested in the Pre-health field. We expanded on some of the many resources we offer at AMSA, such as :
AMSA membership, which grants you access to a lot of networking opportunities, rides to volunteering events, and much more.
Our PEN Mentorship program, where you can get one-on-one advice from an upperclassman at the end of select general meetings.
The Kaplan MCAT Scholarship giveaway, a raffle that all paid members are automatically entered into and have a chance of winning $2000 worth of official MCAT material.
Our very active social media which keeps you up to date with all upcoming events every week.
And of course, our lovely website, where you can find medical articles on a variety of medical fields and career pathways, our mailing list, which you can sign up for in the General Meetings tab to receive important updates and keep track of your membership hours, and an active calendar of all AMSA events.
A very important announcement we had was about the opening of applications AMSA Committees! We offer this leadership opportunity to all prospective members of AMSA, including Freshmen, but only after you've paid for an AMSA membership! Being a part of a Committee allows you to work alongside our Board members to assist in planning club meetings and events!
Our many committees include: the Fundraising Committee, where you'll engage in planning fundraising events, the Social Committee, where you'll take part in preparing socials, icebreakers, and lots of creative activities, the Volunteering Committee, where you'll help plan all kinds of volunteering events, the Historian Committee, where you'll help capture AMSA memories in the form of scrapbooks, the Communications Committee, where you'll be in charge of community outreach, spreading the word about the pre-health pathway and more, and last but certainly not least, the Publicity Committee, where you'll get a hand in making lovely flyers and promoting AMSA with vibrant designs. The application closes on October 10th, 2025, at 11:59 pm.
After our wonderful meeting, we headed to a Fundraising event at T-Swirl in University Village and had an amazing time talking to those who attended the meeting!
We are very excited for this year of AMSA and the wonderful events we have planned to guide you along on your Pre-Health journey!
