AMSA just held our first end-of-the-quarter study jam of the year on November 30, 2018 in Orbach G73! All members of AMSA were encouraged to come out and study regardless of their year or classes, and we had a brilliant turnout of a lot of dedicated students! At this week's General Meeting, AMSA was fortunate enough to host several guest speakers from Western University of Health Sciences, including University Recruiter Mina Mikhael and two current DO students! At AMSA's second general meeting, representatives from Saint George's University offered their valuable insights into Caribbean Medical Schools! We were also fortunate enough to have two Resident Surgeons from Arrowhead Regional Medical Center describe their experiences at SGU, including one who was actually a UCR alumni! AMSA held its first general meeting on October 17, 2017 in the UCR School of Medicine Lecture Hall G650! At the meeting, AMSA members were introduced to the students and faculty behind AMSA, including our wonderful advisor Dr. Nduati and our board members! On May 2nd, 2018 in Bourns A125, AMSA held its second general meeting of spring quarter. Admission Outreach Representative Kat Wang was invited to inform students on the postbaccalaureate programs offered at Keck Graduate Institute as well as other career path options that are in the rise aside from being a doctor. University spoke about admissions as well as the postgraduate education offered at the school. After their presentation, the speakers fielded questions from the audience and gave out medical related souvenirs.

On February 24, 2018, AMSA attended League of United Latin American Citizens (LULAC) health clinic. We worked in shifts from 5am to 5pm, aiding the doctors, dentists, optometrists, and other healthcare professionals bring medical free medical care to the underserved population of Riverside. On February 15th, 2018, AMSA held a social at the University Village Tower Theater. Members got together to watch Big Hero 6 and enjoyed popcorn and candy while bonding with one another. Also, the AMSA board members wrote Valentines Day-themed puns onto red cards that were given out to all the members. Thank you to those who showed up and we hope you had a fun time!
