This past week, AMSA hosted a hands-on and potentially life-saving event in partnership with Highlander EMS to mark Stop the Bleed Week—a national campaign focused on teaching people how to control serious bleeding in emergencies.

Our event brought members together for an engaging and educational experience centered around bleeding control techniques. Highlander EMS members led a powerful demonstration on how to properly apply tourniquets, emphasizing the importance of fast action when dealing with traumatic injuries.

💡 What made this event truly special?AMSA members got to rotate through interactive stations, each focused on a key aspect of bleeding control. These included:

  • Tourniquet Application Practice

  • Wound Packing Demonstration

  • Pressure Techniques and When to Use Them

  • Scenario-Based Role Play

Participants had the chance to not only observe but practice these skills in real-time, guided by trained EMS professionals and fellow AMSA presenters.

This event wasn't just educational—it empowered students with practical, potentially life-saving skills that can make a difference in real-world situations.

A huge thank you to Highlander EMS and everyone who participated. Events like these remind us why we’re passionate about healthcare and community impact.
