On the evening of November 13th, AMSA @ UCR hosted its much-anticipated Clinical Fair Workshop at HUB 268, bringing together pre-health students eager to learn more about the wide variety of clinical opportunities available in the Inland Empire. The workshop was a resounding success, with engaging activities, personal stories from AMSA members, and resources to help students take their first steps in their healthcare journeys.
The room buzzed with energy as attendees explored the different stations, each focusing on a unique clinical or pre-health pathway. Stations included roles like EMT, Phlebotomist, CNA, Scribe, and Medical Assistant (MA), as well as opportunities to learn about programs such as COPE and MMS (Master’s in Medical Sciences), Kaplan test prep, and research opportunities. Each station provided invaluable insights into what it’s like to work in the field, complete with firsthand advice from AMSA members who had walked these paths themselves.
One of the highlights of the event was the chance to hear about AMSA board members’ extracurricular experiences. Their stories shed light on the challenges and rewards of each clinical role, offering inspiration and practical advice to attendees looking to chart their own journeys into the healthcare field.
Of course, it wouldn’t be an AMSA event without a little fun! Free food and the opportunity to win prizes added an extra layer of excitement to the evening. Attendees enjoyed networking with their peers and AMSA members while savoring refreshments and walking away with both new knowledge and a sense of community.
The Clinical Fair Workshop not only showcased the many opportunities available in the Inland Empire but also reminded everyone that starting a healthcare career is about more than just classes—it’s about hands-on experiences that build skills, empathy, and confidence.
