On Wednesday, February 5th, AMSA members spent the evening volunteering with Project Food in downtown Riverside. From 5 to 7 PM, we helped prepare and serve meals, distribute essential supplies, and just spend time connecting with the community. The night started in the kitchen, where we worked together to put meals together. It was a pretty simple process, but knowing the food was going to people who actually needed it made it feel worth it. Once everything was packed up, we got to hand it out, and honestly, just seeing how much people appreciated it was the best part. Besides food, we also gave out warm clothing and hygiene kits, things like socks, gloves, and other essentials to help with the colder weather.

A lot of the items came from donations, and it was cool to see how something so small could make a difference for someone. One thing that stuck out was seeing some familiar faces from past events. It made it clear that for a lot of people, these meals aren’t just a nice extra....they’re something they really rely on. It wasn’t just about handing out food; it was about recognizing people as people and having conversations that felt real. By the time we wrapped up, it felt like the evening had flown by. Volunteering with Project Food is always a reminder that even small efforts can matter. It wasn’t anything huge, but it was a couple of hours spent doing something good—and sometimes, that’s enough.

Big thanks to everyone who showed up, helped out, or donated! If you didn’t make it this time, no worries, there will be more chances to get involved. Looking forward to the next one!
