On January 25, 2018, AMSA held its first general meeting of the 2018 Winter quarter in room MSE 104. In the meeting, speakers discussed AMSA membership as well as details of the MCAT, including steps to prepare for it and what topics to expect on the exam. Additionally, members participated in icebreaker activities as well as an MCAT Trivia Kahoot to gauge their knowledge of MCAT topics. Thank you again to all the members and officers who came out and participated!
The San Bernadino Health Fair and Free Clinic was held on January 20, 2018, at Indian Springs High School. At the Free Clinic, AMSA members were able to gain valuable clinical experience working alongside UCR School of Medicine students as well as consulting physicians on procedures such as blood glucose level readings, Diabetic Neuropathy screening, physical health examinations, and more. Thank you again to all the members who came out and helped!
The AMSA Christmas Social was held on November 30, 2017, at an AMSA board member’s home. The festivities of the night included holiday themed refreshments, Christmas music, a White Elephant gift exchange, cookie decoration, and much more! We had a great turnout of over 20 officers, with a great mix of new and returning members. Thank you again to everybody who came out and participated!
The fourth general meeting was held on November 29th, 2017 in Watkins 1000. For the meeting, members were split into groups and rotated to different board members who gave advice on how to get involved on and off campus. We hope everyone got an idea of how to get their medical careers started. Thank you to everyone who participated and attended, and a big thank you for the board members’ help and experiences!
